June 8, 2015
We had about 2 inches of rain Saturday and Sunday night. Some places had lots more plus hail and very strong winds. We were all praying for protection from storms, fires and flooding.
Yesterday was the Feast of Corpus Christi. It was the first Sunday of the month and also Adoration Sunday for us. We did not have a Corpus Christi procession here at the Motherhouse, but they did have one at Our Lady of Lourdes Church here in Little Falls. I remember, as a little girl, wearing my First Communion dress and strewing flowers during the procession to the various outdoor altars at St. Alexius Parish, West Union, MN.
Did you have doughnuts last Friday, First Friday of June, on National Doughnut Day? We did. There has been a National Doughnut Day since 1938.
We will have a Red Cross Blood Drive next week: June 16 and 17 (1 to 7 p.m.), and 18 (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). God bless all donors.
The St. Francis High School Reunion is July 19th, starting with Mass at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and visiting. RSVP by calling Mary Ellen Imdieke at 763-785-0295 or sfhs.reunion@outlook.com. We hope to have lots of graduates attend.
Folks have been cleaning and planting flowers in the Peace Garden and around the Grotto here on our grounds.
The Peace Garden is a lovely place to spend some time in prayer and reflection. This is my favorite statue in the Peace Garden: Jesus and the Children
The other day I was taking pictures of some of the flowers I planted when I lived at 609 3rd Street.
This puzzle, “Perennials,” is the last one completed. It took quite a while—1,000 small pieces. The name of each flower is under the plant. I like that.
This Thursday evening (6:30 p.m.) we will have a performance of Nicaraguan Dancers. I’m looking forward to their colorful dresses and lively dancing.
Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart—a special day for us as our Chapel is named Sacred Heart Chapel.
May your week be safe and blessed by our God who loves us.
The Lord give you peace. Sister Mary Lou
